Necessities for progression

Recently in Washington D.C., Louis Farrakhan called upon people of all races, nationalities, religions and ethnic groups to participate in the second Million Man March. He wanted everyone to come together and listen to his views regarding the social hardships of Black people, in modern day America. Individuals questioned the purpose of the event, and whether or not it would decrease social hardships for Blacks. Farrakhan does a magnificent job of introducing necessities for progression in America.

In order to progress in America, Blacks must be consciously aware of their current situation and standpoint. Throughout his speech, Minister Farrakhan marvelously illustrated and expanded on daily struggles that Black people need to overcome in America. He also proposed remarkable solutions for declining hardships and social inequalities of Blacks in America. Farrakhan’s speech received tremendous applauses for its astonishing declarations and mission statement. During the introduction of his speech, he states, “There is no government on earth, not one, that can give the people what the people desire of freedom, of justice, and equity.” Through his statement, Farrakhan puts forward that Black people must unite with one another in order to surpass their oppressors.

Farrakhan expands on his beliefs by stating that Blacks are currently fighting for a lost cause. Blacks are currently fighting for freedom, justice, and equity throughout the nation. A great amount of Blacks fight for their freedom, justice and equity by using hashtags such as #BlackLivesMatter and protesting throughout the nation. Activist and advocates organize and host events all throughout the country to help Blacks gain freedom, justice, and equity. Farrakhan views such resolutions as a waste of time and states, “You’re yearning for something that the government can’t give you. You are born to be free.” He suggests that instead of hash tagging on social networks regarding social injustices, advocates should project their efforts toward something such as law school. Black lawmakers, judges, lawyers, and prosecutors would be a positive contribution to the fight for justice, freedom, and equity. Black people having the ability to defend victims of racial inequality, demonstrates valuable and meaningful efforts towards progression.

Making references to Thomas Jefferson and King George, Farrakhan explains that it is now time for Blacks to rise and fight against those who held them in slavery.

Speaking upon the predictions of his former teacher Elijah Muhammad, Farrakhan stated that he was aware of the tribulations Black people would one day encounter in America.  According to Farrakhan, Elijah Muhammad predicted that God would one day use the forces of nature during America’s judgment day. Based on Muhammad’s beliefs, America’s judgement day would signify that God wants America to let Black people free, with a good send off. Supporting his teacher’s prediction, he references the severe weather that South Carolina recently experienced and mentions that the state has never had such floods.

Minister Farrakhan announced that he will attempt to clean-up and enhance unpleasant Black communities throughout the nation. To do so, he stated that he needs 10,000 fearless men to unite with one another and assist him throughout his mission. He refers to his disciples as “10,000 Fearless” because of the obstacles they may encounter while attempting to improve Black communities. Farrakhan is aware that him and his disciples may possibly have to encounter and overcome, careless police officers and other menaces to Black communities. He believes that 15 percent of the people within inferior Black communities do not want change. The 15 percent that Farrakhan believes will not support positive change within Black communities includes pimps, drug dealers, illegal gun carriers, robbers, and thieves. The small uncivilized 15 percent, along with corrupt police officers, survive off of the law abiding 85 percent of people in Black communities. Being so, the corrupt 15 percent will to go to extreme extents to prevent positive change within Black communities.

Farrakhan believes that Black people are in need of their own educational system. Blacks can not become elite intellectuals under an educational system created and operated by their oppressors. The only way to produce Black scholars is to have them indoctrinated by other Black scholars. The intellects who teach others must be consciously aware of the obstacles Black people face and need to overcome. Farrakhan explains that there is a significant amount of Black scholars available to educate Black people and because of this, the educational system of their oppressor is not indispensable.

Farrakhan is a partial humanitarian. Though he is not concerned with promoting and seeking welfare for all people, he does seek and promote welfare for Black people. Even though his words of encouragement relate to all humans, he wishes that Blacks will grasp on to his uplifting assurances. He reminds his audience that, “You are defined by the nature in which you were created” and that “no landmass can define you.” With such beliefs, he reiterates that all humans are born equally. Though individuals such as celebrities possess glorifying attributes, every human does. He encourages all people to find the greatness within themselves before praising others, “If you understand your nature, then you will understand the unlimited possibilities of the human being.” Farrakhan motivates his audience to convey excellence in some aspect of their life, “God created no human being, without depositing in that human being a gift, that can be expressed, to a excellent degree.”

The second Million Man March brought joy to the Nation’s Capital. Through tremendous applauses, Farrakhan’s audience conveyed that they were consciously awaken and supportive of  his thoughts and beliefs. Continuing to gather his 10,000 fearless and promote racial progression, Farrakhan is set on declining hardships, and ending social injustices of Black people until their send off.

Put aside Farrakhan’s personal realities on hardships and injustices of Black people in America, are we people of the same struggle? Is it mostly people of color that face such hardships and social injustices throughout America or is it all people? Can Farrakhan’s solutions only help Black people overcome their hardships and injustices, or can his answers be used to help all?
